Executive Summary
IKNS is a national school that is committed to offering internationally recognized educational programs of high academic standards. It is a non-profit self supporting private school that is licensed in the Kingdom of Bahrain by the Ministry of Education (MoE) to offer educational programmes from KG1 to Grade 12. The school is registered under a Board of Trustees, whose members volunteer their service to the school with no financial compensation.
The purpose and direction of IKNS is best expressed through its Foundation
Documents. These documents are the Philosophy Statement,
the Vision and Mission, the
Core Values, and the
Graduate Profile.
These four documents are a reflection of the community’s expectations of the school’s preferred future and guide the decision-making process of its operation. The Philosophy Statement has been the school’s guiding document since the inception of the school in 1983, whereas the Vision and Mission act as an anchor steering the direction of the school towards its preferred future, upholding school’s principles and standards as depicted in the school’s Core Values and Graduate Profile.
The 2023-2030 Strategic Plan is a means for realizing the preferred future of the school as derived from the Foundation Documents. The school’s preferred future is also aligned with the Bahrain's Vision 2030 that upholds competitiveness, sustainability and fairness as its main pillars. The strategic plan is designed with the flexibility allowing IKNS to adapt to future opportunities and challenges with strength.
In its three domains, the strategic plan aims to create a learning environment that equips students with the necessary Twenty-First Century skills and to be inquiring, knowledgeable and caring lifelong learners in an inclusive and equitable environment that embraces the values of sustainability.
Introduction
On the national level, the school abides by the MoE’s regulations and continues to meet the demands of the Education & Training Quality Authority (BQA), which is an independent entity that was established as an initiative of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2023.
IKNS is an accredited member of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA) and is affiliated with the International Baccalaureate (IB) as an IB Continuum School, offering three International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes. These international partnerships with highly regarded educational bodies demonstrate the school's commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
Delivered by highly qualified and trained faculty members, IKNS offers the IB Primary Years program (PYP) for students in KG1 to Grade 5, the IB Middle Years Program (MYP) in Grades 6 to 10, the IB Diploma Program (DP) and the American High School Program (HS) as two parallel programs in Grades 11 and 12.
The Three Domains of the 2023 - 2030 Strategic Plan
The 2023-2030 Strategic Plan sets out goals under three main domains: The Educational Programs, Sustaining Excellence, and Optimising Resources and Facilities to promote the well-being of the IKNS Community. The progress in each domain is measured using a variety of key performance indicators (KPI)s. Some of these KPIs are quantitative, while others are qualitative, aiming to capture the complete picture of the progress made in each domain.
Domain 1: The Educational Programs
The K-12 educational programs offered at IKNS, together with the clubs, societies and activities programs are integral to the development of the IKNS student as well-balanced and responsible local and global citizens.

1.1. IKNS will continue to maintain the rigor of its educational programs, preparing the students to be successful in the next stage of their education, including tertiary education and future careers in a highly competitive world.
1.2. IKNS will continue to invest in providing the students with opportunities for involvement in
meaningful Service as Action activities, locally and globally, as well as opportunities
for personal development (Approaches to learning, Approaches to Teaching, 21 Century
Skills, trips, clubs, MYP Personal Project, PYP exhibition, ToK exhibition,
DP Extended Essay, Art exhibition, Team Nasser, IKMUN, Go Green, Tradequest,
Injaz, E-waste campaign, Good morning IKNS, etc.)
1.3. IKNS will continue to support the teaching and learning of Arabic as a means for fostering a sense of identity and belonging to the Kingdom of Bahrain and the
region (Quran recitation, Morning announcement in Arabic, Arabic
drama, Arabic enrichment, Arabic Reading Challenge, Spelling bee in Arabic, Reading Club,
etc.)
1.4. IKNS will continue to incorporate programming, coding, ICT Skills and STEAM, as part of its educational programs and as means to inspire creativity, collaboration, and independent research.
1.5. IKNS will continue to develop the students’ awareness and appreciation about the importance of leading a sustainable lifestyle as means for tackling environmental and social challenges.
